Harmelin Media is looking for a seasoned media research professional to support our Account Services and Media Planning teams with both quantitative and qualitative research information. This person will be working with multiple teams within the agency as well as directly with client contacts.
Ideal candidates will be curious and knowledgeable about media measurement and data trends, with the ability to work independently, summarizing information to internal and external stakeholders in an easily understood manner. Attention to detail is important as well as having a resourceful and creative approach to problem solving, applying research of all types in response to client requests/questions.
This research team member reports to the VP, Director of Research and Consumer Insights, manages department requests in his absence, and is responsible for the training and development of junior research staff.
Responsibilities
- Develop target audience profiles and insights using syndicated media research databases (e.g. GfK MRI, Simmons, and Scarborough)
- Produce reach & frequency analyses for multi-channel media recommendations
- Oversee or directly mange the compilation of competitive ad spending reports
- Monitor and report on developments in research measurement methodologies across all media channels
- Oversee maintenance of existing media research library resources
- Act as department lead in the creation of agency POVs and reports on emerging media industry trends
- Other duties may be assigned as necessary to meet company needs.
Qualifications:
Candidates may be considered as Associate Research Director based on the breadth of their experience and depth of their skillsets.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in media research
- Thorough understanding of media research terms and formulas with the ability to explain them to non-research focused co-workers or clients
- Extensive experience using syndicated research tools/software including: AAM Media Intelligence Center, comScore, Nielsen Answers, Kantar Stradegy, PrimeLingo, Tapscan, and Telmar
- Expert in Microsoft Office Software Suite, including advanced knowledge of Excel (i.e. pivot tables, Vlookup, and IF function)
- Proficient in accessing trade group websites (TVB, MPA, IAB, VAB) and publicly available online research sources such as U.S. Census Factfinder, Pew Research Center, Marketing Charts, etc.
- Experience with consumer research survey design and programming a plus
- Strong supervisory, time management and multi-tasking skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Familiarity with digital media analytics as well as STRATA/FreeWheel media buying software a plus
